This year it’s all about that black and white buffalo check. It really has a festive look, one that i’m thinking will carry on through Christmas. And, if you’re living in a farmhouse, it’s likely you keep some up year round.
Now, let’s talk about some of my other favorite Fall finds for 2019.
Let’s Start Outside

Number one on the list, yes, it’s something that’s buffalo checkered. A doormat, one to layer with. Layered doormats have been a huge hit in the home decor department! Keep it fun by making it seasonal.
Now that you have your buffalo check mat, it’s time for the fun part – layering! This is when you can get really creative, give a nod to your sense of humor. Tell everyone at your front door, “hey pumpkin” or let the mailman know to hide all your packages from husband (haha). I came across my hello pumpkin doormat at Marshall’s. If you’re on the lookout, you’ll come across one – but, they go fast!
Make a Statement…with Pillows
Number three is another fun way to express yourself – pillow covers! Because throw pillows are the grown up equivalent to stuffed animals, right?? For the ladies anyway. Not only are pillow covers fun, but they can also be cost effective way of changing out your decor with the seasons, without breaking the bank purchasing new pillows every time. All you need are the pillow inserts which come in a variety of sizes and some pretty pillow covers in the coordinating size.
Set a welcoming tone for guests as they come to your front door. Add pretty fall pillows to your rocking chairs or place one in a basket. Toss some onto the couches inside. I mean who doesn’t love cozy? Pillows are perfect for that.
The Perfect Scent
Oh Mrs. Meyers, I love everything you have! The basil scent is my favorite go to for a fresh year round scent. But, when I want something festive, I love to switch it out for something seasonal. The scent i’m loving right now? Apple cider. It smells oh so good and I love getting that little scent of Fall right in my home, without going over board.
If you’re really loving it? Grab the coordinating hand soap to go along with it. I promise you won’t mind your hands smelling a little bit like Fall too!
Keep it Simple With Greenery
Coming in at number five, greenery. If you follow me on Instagram or even took a look at my previous blog post, you will know I have a love for greenery. I’m somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to home decor, although taking a look at my front porch fall decor, you wouldn’t think so. But, inside I like to keep it pretty and simple. Greenery is perfect for year round use and it keeps a fresh look. I am loving this hanging greenery for my mantle. Add in a few of these white pumpkins and voila, a pretty but simple fall mantle. You can see here how I used this greenery on my mantle for a simple, Fall look.
The Tiered Tray Craze
Now I must say, this is a trend I have yet to really jump on. But, I did purchase my first “mini” tiered tray just a couple of weeks ago from this Fall release of Target’s Bullseye section. I’ve yet to decorate it because I haven’t gone out and really searched for small items for it!
Although I don’t have a tiered tray decorated, I had to add it to my Fall list. Because, let’s face it – they’re all over Pinterest and Instagram and I absolutely love looking at them! This is another piece of decor that is really versatile for all seasons.
Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Pumpkins
It’s Fall ya’ll and I don’t think we can ever have too many pumpkins or PSL’s. Yep, I’m pretty basic. You can find me in a pumpkin patch searching out the pumpkins.
When I was younger, I felt the need to find the “perfect” orange pumpkin. You know, the one with the perfect lines and the perfect stem. No dirt, no bad spots and definitely none of those oddly shaped ones.
Well, now i’m a little bit older and I’ve come to love the heirloom pumpkins. The pumpkins that aren’t so perfect but are perfect in their own way. Yes the green one’s, the weird shaped orange one’s and please give me all the white one’s.
I do love real pumpkins but if you’re looking to save money each year, go all out one season and purchase fake pumpkins. You’ll be able to use them for years to come and won’t spend so much money at the pumpkin patch. Try to score some at the end of the season when they’re on clearance.
Last but Surely Not Least…Baskets
Who doesn’t love baskets? They’re good for holding and storing practically anything. Just this weekend I became hooked on bushel baskets. I came across a photo on Pinterest where mums were planted in them. So, off I went on a search. I finally landed at a farm supply store an hour away from home. But, guess what? I left with the bushel baskets I needed plus a few more items…obviously.
Baskets are also great for storing those comfy blankets or using as decorative pieces. Fill baskets with pumpkins or apples. Grab a set of different sizes to add dimension. There are so many possibilities!
I love to decorate for Fall as it is such a beautiful time of year. I hope this post helped you in finding some items to add to your Fall decor or to even use year round! I’d love to see your decor! Be sure to leave me a comment or tag me on Instagram.
