Let me tell you, when I found out at my sister’s gender reveal party that she’d be having a girl, I was ecstatic! I was also shocked because I was certain she was having another boy.

My parents had two girls, my sister and I. When she and I each brought little boys into the world, it just seemed perfect! Now, she’s adding a little girl into the mix, and I cannot wait to feast my eyes on my niece – Madison.
Naturally, I offered up my home and myself to host an all pink baby shower for my sister. I felt I had been waiting for this! Of course, I was going to have plenty of help from our mom. Our dad and my husband even had a hand in the planning process (keep reading to hear more about that).

First Up – Picking A Theme
I’m not so sure I ended up with a specific theme, but I knew I wanted pink and I knew I wanted simple. I love planning showers and parties. And though I always have these grand ideas in the beginning, I end up bringing them back down to reality just a little.
I wanted greenery. You see, I love flowers but I like simplicity. I like whites, greens and pretty blush’s or light pinks. So, a garden or floral theme seemed perfect.
Necessity: Guest List & Invitations
I love to pick out pretty invitations! My usual go-to for this is Etsy. I love sending out a pretty, hand crafted invitation. I like for guests to receive something they won’t find in store plus supporting small businesses is something I enjoy.

There were a few designs that I really loved. Sometimes, there are just too many invitations to choose from! I ultimately decided on these, with the help of my mom. They’re so pretty yet so simple. I love the blush flowers and the greenery. The font gives it just enough elegance – perfect for a baby girl.
I decided to add in a diaper raffle card to each invite, in hopes of helping my sister get an abundance of diapers – because lets face it, this is something that will get used up quick!
Oh, The Cake – Possibly My Favorite of Any Event!
I love a pretty cake. What’s better than a pretty cake? One that’s delicious too. The cake, to me, is the centerpiece of the shower. I always want a pretty cake, but I need it to taste good too.
We have a local baker that we usually use for our cakes. Let me tell you, her cakes are amazing. The look, the taste – everything! Sadly, she was not available for any of the dates in the running for the shower.

This is when I stumbled upon Stephanie Richardson’s Cakes out of Durham, NC. Actually, I didn’t stumble upon her at all. I reached out to a fellow coworker that owns a cupcake shop, and she put us in touch with each other. Let me tell you, this cake was absolutely delicious! I wanted a naked cake, the size of a miniature wedding cake – with a marble filling and she gave me just that. Yes please!
I Was So Sad When The Cake Was Gone!
I wasn’t at all disappointed that there were some slices of cake leftover from the shower. But, I was sad when I finished the last slice from my refrigerator!
Not only was this cake so delicious, but it was so pretty. I had envisioned eucalyptus sprigs and some pretty flowers to top it off. Of course, peony season was over by the time this June shower rolled around, so I opted for a pretty gold topper and a couple of sprigs of eucalyptus – perfection! The cake was seated on this pretty cake stand I purchased from Target, centered on my farmhouse table. I finished off the table with this DIY table runner made of paper doilies, eucalyptus stems and small mason jar candles.

Decor – Pretty and Simple. Oh, and Pink!
Pinterest. My best friend. The answer to anything decor and food related – among other things. Just type in the theme, and BOOM, an abundance of ideas! So many, I often end up overwhelmed. To help myself out and to stay organized, I always create a new board that’s specific to the event I’m planning.

This pretty, pink tee-pee set up was probably the favorite of the guests. I saw this idea and ran with it! My sister already had the tee-pee on her Target registry, so that made it even easier with planning this part out – I didn’t have to go tee-pee searching.
I purchased these floral vines from Amazon to give it a boho/garden vibe. The package came with two, so I decided to wrap the other down my blanket ladder. I took a cream colored fluffy blanket I already had to line the bottom of the tee-pee. It gave it a much cuter, baby look!
This is seriously so cute for placing presents! Planning a boy shower? Choose a tee-pee in a different color. They can go along with any theme.
Balloons!
What’s a party without balloons? I needed them – a lot. You see, I wanted a balloon garland. The one’s you see all over Pinterest. I was able to find one on Amazon with the exact colors I wanted and everything I needed in one package. Plus, it had great reviews. I’m all about reading reviews!

This is where my dad and husband really came in handy. The night before the shower, my husband and I got a head start on blowing up balloons. I think we did twenty and stopped (haha). I really didn’t want to go to bed light headed and with a headache from the loss of so much oxygen – 100 balloons will do that!
The next morning, my dad was over with his air compressor. Let me tell you, this made it 100 times easier! We had our assembly line going – dad blowing up balloons, my husband tying them and myself attaching them to the strip. Really, if you are planning a balloon garland at your next event, go this route. It well save you so much time and your breath!
Along with the balloon garland, I found this “baby girl” phrase foil balloon at Target. It was the perfect touch for the wall behind the tee-pee setup!

I Knew The Decor Used In My Wedding Would Come In Handy Again One Day…
All those tea light candles and frames I thought would go to waste? Nope. Between my sister and I, this is our third baby shower. Many of the items used from our weddings we’ve been able to recycle into our baby showers.

Mason jars are so versatile. They are great as decor pieces. I also don’t think they’ll ever go out of style. I love to tie a small twine bow around the neck to dress them up just a little! These looked so pretty sitting around, especially on the cake table with my diy table runner made with paper doilies. Hello rustic glam!

Food and Sips!
For me, one of the best things about a shower is the food. I absolutely love finger foods and appetizers. You can get really creative with finger foods and come up with all sorts of fun things and ways to serve them.

I’ve listed for you the foods that were served and the drinks, along with the serve-ware I use. Some of these were found on Pinterest (of course), so I’ve shared with you the links to the recipes or “how to’s” for making them.
- Fruit and Donut Hole Kabobs
- Pasta Salad – This is pretty served in a trifle dish!
- Chicken Salad Sandwiches
- Deviled Eggs – The pink platter used is no longer available but here is a white option.
- Dipped Rice Krispy Treats
- Veggie Tray – Carrots, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Cauliflower and Radishes
- Chips and Salsa
- Spinach Dip – Only Four Ingredients! This is my “go to” recipe.
- Pink Lemonade – Made using a drink mix – I added in lemon slices.
- Mint Infused Water – This is so pretty and so refreshing!

We Opted For a Popcorn Bar Instead of Favors
Not going to lie, I love favors as much as the next host…or do I? Favors can be fun and favors can be cute. Favors can also be a waste of money. I can’t begin to tell you how many showers I’ve been to in my lifetime where the favors went missing, in the trash or just disappeared (yes, really).

I tossed around the idea to do favors or not for a while, up until I had to make a decision. Ultimately, I decided against favors. I went with a popcorn bar instead. I chose cute, pink disposable containers that could easily be used for munching on at the shower or on the ride home.
Popcorn bars are so cute and so easy. They are a great addition to any shower, for obvious reasons. The term, “She’s About To Pop’ really is fitting! For the popcorn bar, I chose to go with this sweet popcorn. You can use kettle corn or caramel corn.

Fill bowls with your toppings of choice! I went with chocolate chips, mini marshmallows, pink six-lets candies and sprinkles. You can find the pink popcorn containers I used, here! The guests loved this idea and it’s great for the kids that may be at the shower!
How Do I Stay Organized When Planning A Shower?
Lists, lists, LISTS! I can’t say it enough. I make a list for everything. That little notes app on your phone? Use it. If you prefer an actual pen and paper, that works too. I prefer the notes app on my phone. Why? Because my phone is almost always with me, so when an idea pops up or something needs to be changed/added, I can do it right away.
I have a guest list, a food list and a list of what to buy. If I have other people chipping in or helping, I make sure to add that in. This really helps to keep up with what’s going and and who is doing what.
Time management. We’ve all done it, waited until the last minute. Some things can be done last minute, like picking up plates and utensils or even some decor – like balloons (not specialty one’s). Items like invitations and cake need to be done well in advance. So, save yourself and anyone helping you by managing your time wisely. Make sure to plan ahead for the bigger, special items!
